How Often Should You Deep Clean Your House?

The Verdant Team February 4, 2026 5 min read

There's no universal answer, but there is a sensible rule of thumb. Here's how to figure out your home's cadence.

The honest answer is: it depends on your household. But after thousands of cleans, here's the cadence we recommend.

The baseline rule

If you have a weekly or biweekly recurring clean, you only need a deep clean once or twice a year — typically a spring reset and a pre-holiday refresh in November. The recurring visits keep buildup from happening in the first place.

When to deep clean more often

  • Pets that shed: every 3 months.
  • Kids under 5: every 3 months.
  • Allergies or asthma in the household: every 2–3 months.
  • No recurring service: every 2 months.
  • High-traffic Airbnb or short-term rental: monthly.

Seasonal triggers

We see deep-clean demand spike at three points each year in the Delaware Valley: late March (spring cleaning), late August (back-to-school), and early November (pre-holiday). Book at least two weeks ahead for those windows.
