Move-Out Cleaning Checklist for NJ Renters (Get Your Deposit Back)

Security deposits in New Jersey can be up to 1.5 months' rent — real money you don't want to lose because of overlooked grime. After hundreds of move-out cleans across Cherry Hill, Marlton, Moorestown, and Voorhees, here's the checklist that gets our clients their full deposit back.

Kitchen

• Inside the oven, including racks and the broiler tray.
• Inside the fridge and freezer — defrosted and wiped down.
• Inside every cabinet and drawer, lined paper removed.
• Behind the stove and fridge (pull them out if possible).
• Range hood filter degreased.
• Backsplash and grout scrubbed.

Bathrooms

• Grout lines bleached or scrubbed.
• Inside vanity drawers and under the sink.
• Exhaust fan cover removed and washed.
• Mineral deposits off shower glass and faucets.
• Toilet base, behind the toilet, and the bolt caps.

Bedrooms, living areas, and the rest

• Inside closets, including the top shelf.
• Baseboards, doorframes, and switch plates wiped.
• Window tracks vacuumed and wiped.
• Blinds dusted (each slat).
• Vents and ceiling fans dusted.
• Floors vacuumed, then mopped — carpets steamed if required by the lease.

The five spots inspectors always check
